Brazil vs India Friendly: Seleção Complete 4-0 Win in Kolkata
Brazil finished its Asian tour with a 4-0 win over India in Kolkata, led by goals from Estêvão, Pedro and Samuel Lino.
Brazil ended its Asian tour with a commanding 4-0 victory over India at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. The match was the first meeting between the two national teams, and Brazil controlled the contest despite India creating occasional moments of danger. The result gave Carlo Ancelotti’s side a strong finish to its friendly schedule in Asia.
Estêvão opened the scoring in the 28th minute after receiving the ball from Matheuzinho on the right. The young attacker moved inside before shooting towards the near post. India’s goalkeeper was unable to deal with the effort, allowing Brazil to take the lead after a period of sustained control.
Estêvão then became the provider for Brazil’s second goal. In the 41st minute, he sent Pedro through into space behind the Indian defence. Pedro advanced towards goal and finished despite striking the ball centrally, with the goalkeeper unable to keep it out. The combination gave Brazil a 2-0 advantage before half-time and placed Estêvão at the centre of the opening half’s decisive moments.
Ancelotti used the interval to make five substitutions, including the withdrawals of Marquinhos and Vinicius Junior. The changes did not disrupt Brazil’s authority. The Seleção continued to hold possession and attack with control, while India struggled to turn its promising passages into clear scoring opportunities.
Brazil added its third goal in the 58th minute after India gave the ball away during an attempted restart. Pedro took advantage of the poor clearance and found Samuel Lino in the interval between the defenders. Lino kept his composure to adjust his finish beyond the Indian goalkeeper, extending the lead to 3-0.
India threatened Brazil in spells after the break, but those attacks did not produce a goal. Pedro Morisco remained unbeaten in the Brazilian goal. India’s inability to make its attacking phases count allowed Brazil to manage the closing stages without losing control of the match.
Lino completed the scoring in the fifth minute of added time. His second goal of the night turned a comfortable Brazilian win into a four-goal margin and capped a productive personal performance. Brazil’s goals came from three players, with Estêvão contributing a goal and an assist, Pedro scoring once and setting up Lino, and Lino finishing twice.
The victory closed Brazil’s Asian friendly series with two wins and one draw. The Seleção will return to action on 14 November, when Japan and Singapore are scheduled as its next opponents. India’s next fixture is against Uruguay on Tuesday at 16:00. For Brazil, the Kolkata performance offered a clean-sheet finish, attacking variety and a successful conclusion to a tour that ended with four unanswered goals.
