Raphinha released by Brazil after thigh muscle injury
Raphinha will miss Brazil’s next friendly after a scan found minor swelling in his right thigh.
Raphinha has been released from Brazil duty after suffering a right-thigh muscle problem, ruling him out of the team’s next friendly against India. The decision is precautionary, and Brazil will not call up a replacement for the match.
The 29-year-old underwent imaging on Wednesday 30, which detected slight muscular swelling in the back of his right thigh. Raphinha had felt discomfort during Brazil’s meeting with Australia and was substituted at half-time. He had scored for the national team in each of his last two matches before the injury.
The problem is at the same spot as a serious injury he sustained while with Brazil last season. Despite that history, the current findings are considered reassuring, and Raphinha is expected to be available for Barcelona’s next commitments. The setback has nevertheless raised concern at the Catalan club, where officials are unhappy about the risks created by extended international breaks.
Raphinha is Barcelona’s leading scorer in La Liga this season, with 12 goals. His early return from Brazil duty is intended to support a swift recovery ahead of the club schedule.
