Cameroon begin Abidjan preparations for Ivory Coast test
Cameroon have arrived in Abidjan and started preparations for a high-profile friendly against Ivory Coast on October 3.
Cameroon have begun preparations in Abidjan for a high-profile meeting with Ivory Coast, turning the page on their contrasting 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaigns. The fixture is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, at the Ebimpé Stadium and carries the weight of a long-standing rivalry despite its friendly status.
The Indomitable Lions are staying at the Noom Hotel in Abidjan Plateau, in the city’s business district. Bryan Mbeumo is part of the squad in the Ivorian capital, where the team has resumed its work ahead of the encounter with the Elephants. The previous match against Congo is no longer the immediate focus of the camp.
Monday’s programme combines recovery and on-field preparation. The players are due to complete a stretching session at 11:30 a.m. at the hotel before training at Lycée Moderne de Cocody from 4 p.m. The first 30 minutes of that session will be open to the press.
The meeting at Ebimpé will be more than a routine fixture for the two national teams. Cameroon and Ivory Coast arrive from the continental qualifiers with different results, and Saturday’s game offers both sides an opportunity to measure themselves against a familiar regional rival.
