Enzo Le Fée weighs France call-up under Zidane
Sunderland midfielder Enzo Le Fée has received his first France preselection as Zinédine Zidane prepares his squad.
Enzo Le Fée has entered the France selection picture for the first time, giving the Sunderland midfielder a chance of joining Zinédine Zidane’s squad for the late-September and early-October international window. The 26-year-old central midfielder is among the players being considered ahead of the squad announcement on Thursday.
Le Fée strengthened his case by scoring Sunderland’s only goal in their 1-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday. The result continued a run of strong performances for the former Lorient, Rennes and Roma player, who has become an important part of Régis Le Bris’s team.
The Frenchman has welcomed the possibility of a first senior call-up but is not allowing it to dominate his attention. His priority remains his work with Sunderland, where he believes consistent performances will determine whether France eventually selects him. The initial preselection is already a landmark, regardless of the final list.
Le Fée joined Sunderland from Roma in the 2025-26 season in a €23.75 million move. He is valued at €28 million and remains contracted to the English club, where his form has now brought him into consideration under Zidane.
