Esteban Lepaul backed by Haise for France selection

Esteban Lepaul’s prospects of entering the France conversation have received public support from Rennes coach Franck Haise. Haise is campaigning for the striker to be considered by the national team, making Lepaul’s international ambitions the latest focus around the 26-year-old forward at Stade Rennais.

Lepaul plays as a centre-forward and represents France internationally at nationality level. He is currently registered with Rennes, having joined the club from Angers SCO in the 2025-26 season for a reported €13.5 million transfer fee. His listed market value at Stade Rennais is €35 million, reflecting the standing he has established since moving to the Brittany club.

The move to Rennes followed a spell at Angers, where Lepaul arrived from SAS Epinal for €150,000 in 2023-24. His earlier career also included transfers between US Orléans and SAS Epinal: he moved from Orléans to Epinal in 2023-24 after previously going the other way in 2021-22. Those steps preceded his rise to Rennes and Haise’s call for France to take notice.

The player’s current record also lists a groin injury. Haise’s backing is an endorsement rather than confirmation of a France selection, but it places Lepaul’s name in the discussion around the national team while he remains a Rennes player.
