Hugo Magnetti set to extend Brest contract by two years

Stade Brestois are preparing to secure Hugo Magnetti’s future with a two-year contract extension and a significant salary increase. The agreement underlines the central midfielder’s importance to a club where he has become a senior presence on and off the pitch. Magnetti is also expected to retain a leading role in Brest’s plans as vice-captain.

The 28-year-old Frenchman arrived from SC Bastia in 2018 and has remained part of Brest’s rise through Ligue 1. He experienced the club’s battles for survival before helping the team make its push towards Champions League football in 2024. That progression has strengthened his standing within the squad, where only Brendan Chardonnet has been with Brest longer.

Magnetti’s new terms also represent a decision to continue a relationship that has lasted since his move from Bastia. Marseille and Nice had shown interest in the midfielder, but he is set to stay in Brittany rather than pursue another move. His contract renewal gives Brest continuity in central midfield and keeps one of the team’s most experienced players tied to the project.

The extension follows a career built through Bastia’s youth and reserve teams before Magnetti reached the professional ranks and moved to Brest’s reserve side. He subsequently established himself with the senior team. Brest now value him at €6 million, reflecting the standing he has reached after years of regular service and his contribution to the club’s recent progress.
