Idrissa Gueye faces three months out after ankle surgery
Udinese forward Idrissa Gueye has undergone successful right-ankle surgery and is expected to miss three months.
Udinese will be without Idrissa Gueye for approximately three months after the Senegalese forward underwent surgery on his right ankle. The operation was successful, but the recovery period removes him from competition during a significant part of the season and interrupts his positive start with the Italian club.
Gueye sustained the injury in Udinese’s friendly against Pogon on September 26. He scored in that match before being forced to deal with the ankle problem. The operation was performed by Professor Van Dijk at the San Rossore clinic in Pisa, with the club putting the expected rehabilitation period at three months.
The 20-year-old had featured in four of Udinese’s first five Serie A games. His strongest moment came at San Siro, where he scored against Inter Milan despite Udinese’s 5-3 defeat. Those appearances had given the former Génération Foot player an important role in the squad during the opening weeks of the campaign.
Gueye must now complete his recovery before returning to competitive football. His absence leaves Udinese without a forward who had already made an impact in Serie A, while the Senegalese player faces a pause after establishing himself in the club’s early-season plans.
