Iliman Ndiaye earns Jamie Carragher’s Manchester City backing
Jamie Carragher believes Iliman Ndiaye could become a bargain for Manchester City if he improves under Pep Guardiola.
Iliman Ndiaye has received a strong endorsement from Jamie Carragher, who believes the Senegal international could prove an astute Manchester City signing. The former Liverpool defender says the winger has the qualities to make the investment look modest if he takes another step forward under Pep Guardiola.
Ndiaye is currently an Everton player and is listed as a right winger, with a market value of €55 million. Carragher’s assessment is based on his experience in the Premier League and his ability to operate across the attack. He can play on either flank, move into central areas, carry the ball, press and contribute when his team does not have possession.
That range of skills, Carragher argues, should reduce the adaptation period normally faced by players arriving in England. Ndiaye joined Everton from Marseille in the 2024-25 season after moving to the French club from Sheffield United the previous campaign. His earlier development included Sheffield United’s under-21 side after leaving Hyde United.
The 26-year-old holds Senegalese and French nationality. A move to City would represent another major stage in his career, but Carragher believes Ndiaye’s existing Premier League experience gives him a different profile from expensive recruits who still need to demonstrate that they can succeed in English football.
