Jack Draper ends season early, targets 2027 return

Jack Draper will not play again this season and is targeting a return to the circuit at the start of 2027. The decision comes as the 24-year-old has fallen to 155th in the world rankings and gone without a match win since his run to the Eastbourne semi-finals.

Draper announced the decision on social media, saying he needs time to recover physically and mentally before resuming his career. It is the second consecutive year that the British player has brought his season to an early close in September.

His recent decline follows a series of injuries after the best period of his career. Draper won two titles in 2024 and reached the US Open semi-finals, then rose as high as fourth in the rankings. He won Indian Wells in March 2025, defeating Joao Fonseca, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune, before reaching the Madrid final. An arm injury ended that season after he lost in the US Open second round, when he was ranked fifth.

After returning in February, Draper reached the Indian Wells quarter-finals but later suffered a knee problem in Barcelona that ruled him out of the clay-court season. He made the Eastbourne semi-finals with Andy Murray as his coach, but has not won since. His planned comeback will test whether he can recover the form that took him into the world’s top four.
