Julián Alvarez changes agent in Atlético Madrid reset
Julián Alvarez has split with Fernando Hidalgo as Javier Pastore leads the race to represent the Atlético striker.
Julián Alvarez has ended his long-standing relationship with agent Fernando Hidalgo in a move intended to repair his strained connection with Atlético de Madrid’s leadership. The decision has opened a fresh contest among representatives seeking to take charge of the Argentina international’s career.
Javier Pastore is considered the leading candidate. The former Paris Saint-Germain player already manages the interests of Enzo Fernández and could become Alvarez’s new representative. A change in agency would give the striker a chance to rebuild relations with Atlético after months of tension between the player and the club’s hierarchy.
Hidalgo had faced strong criticism from Atlético officials, while some observers believe he pushed Alvarez towards a departure from Madrid. The striker remains under contract with Atlético until 2030, although uncertainty over his longer-term future has not disappeared. Barcelona has ruled out another approach, with Raphinha and other attacking players limiting that possibility, while Arsenal’s position remains unclear.
The episode comes after a difficult period for Alvarez at the Metropolitano, where supporters had jeered him before a slight improvement in recent matches. He also scored his first goal of the season for Argentina in the 7-0 win over Burkina Faso during the international break. Diego Simeone continues to count on him as Atlético prepare for their next fixtures.
