Ligue 1 Senegal sets October 3 start for 2026-27
Senegal’s Ligue 1 starts on October 3, with champions Teungueth FC facing US Ouakam in the opening round.
Senegal’s Ligue 1 will start its 2026-27 season on October 3, with the full first-half schedule now released. The new campaign will see Teungueth FC begin its title defence after winning the 2025-26 championship. The Rufisque club is also due to compete in the African Champions League during the season.
Teungueth’s first league assignment is against US Ouakam. Its early programme then includes a fourth-round trip to AS Pikine, followed by meetings with Jaraaf, Diambars, Gorée and Génération Foot in rounds five through eight. The champions will face Ajel in the ninth round, a fixture that will also serve as the Rufisque derby.
The opening round will feature a meeting between Essamaye FC and Diambars, the two clubs promoted to Senegal’s top division for the new season. Their fixture gives the newcomers a direct contest at the start of their return or arrival in the elite, while the schedule also places AS Pikine against Jaraaf in the 14th round.
The Banlieue derby between Guédiawaye FC and AS Pikine is set for round 15. With the calendar now fixed, Teungueth’s defence begins against US Ouakam before a sequence that quickly brings several established league opponents, while Essamaye and Diambars will start their top-flight campaigns against each other. The Senegalese Professional Football League released the programme on August 22.
