Kevin De Bruyne confirms Manchester City departure

Kevin De Bruyne will leave Manchester City when his contract ends, closing a decade-long chapter at the club.

Kevin De Bruyne will leave Manchester City at the end of the season, bringing his time at the club to a close. The Belgian midfielder announced the decision after a decade with the Premier League side and will depart when his contract expires.

His exit leaves City without one of the central figures of their most successful era. De Bruyne has been recognised by the club and its supporters during his final home appearances, including a mosaic tribute and a road named after him at the Academy. He was also applauded when substituted against Bournemouth.

The departure also creates a sporting vacancy for Pep Guardiola. Manchester City are already looking for a replacement, with Bayer Leverkusen forward Florian Wirtz identified as a preferred option. De Bruyne’s next destination remains unresolved, although interest has emerged from clubs in England, Italy, Major League Soccer and Saudi Arabia.

De Bruyne has indicated that he would favour stability in the United Kingdom while considering his choices. His immediate future is therefore still open, but his Manchester City chapter is set to end after one final season.
