Loïs Boisson falls short in Adana WTA 125 final

Loïs Boisson lost the Adana final to fellow Frenchwoman Léolia Jeanjean, who claimed her first professional singles title.

Loïs Boisson missed out on the Adana WTA 125 title after fellow Frenchwoman Léolia Jeanjean won a closely fought final. The result gave Jeanjean the first singles trophy of her professional career, while Boisson finished runner-up after reaching the deciding set.

Boisson, ranked 274th in the world, made the stronger start by breaking immediately and moving 2-0 ahead. The opening set then became a sequence of exchanged breaks before both players held serve. Boisson had two chances to take the set, but Jeanjean secured the tiebreak by winning its final four points. Jeanjean is ranked 109th.

The second set remained level through the opening five games. Jeanjean moved 4-2 in front, but Boisson responded at once and then took another break to lead. Play was suspended for more than an hour because of rain, and Jeanjean could not convert three break points after the resumption. Boisson took the set with her first opportunity, forcing a decider.

The final set featured another exchange of breaks before Jeanjean regained control. She failed to serve out the match at her first opportunity, allowing Boisson to level, but broke again and completed a 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 victory on her second match point. The final lasted three hours and 22 minutes.
