Loïs Boisson’s Philadelphia return ends in retirement

Loïs Boisson’s preparations for the US Open have been disrupted after she retired from her opening match at the Philadelphia Challenger. The Frenchwoman stopped playing against Capucine Jauffret, an American of French origin, after receiving treatment on her left foot. She now has one week to recover before beginning her campaign at Flushing Meadows.

Boisson ended the match after falling 6-1 in the opening set. The set lasted only a little more than 20 minutes, and the 2025 French Open revelation decided not to continue soon after the medical intervention. The result leaves her facing another interruption at a time when she is trying to rebuild her form.

A few days earlier, Boisson had taken encouragement from her run in Cincinnati. Although she was eliminated in the third round, she viewed the tournament positively because she had managed to play three matches in the same event. Her early departure in Philadelphia means that progress has been followed by an uncertain fitness situation.

The former French No.1 has slipped to 236th in the world rankings after suffering too many injuries. She will rely on her protected ranking to enter the US Open, but her condition will now determine how much preparation she can complete before her first match in New York.
