MAFEM-CI closes eighth edition in Korhogo with gala
The women’s marathon ended in Korhogo with health screening, fitness activities and a gala match between local workers.
The eighth edition of Côte d’Ivoire’s Women’s Marathon (MAFEM-CI) ended in Korhogo with a programme combining health awareness, exercise and community sport. The closing activities took place on Saturday, 22 August 2026, at Place ADO, bringing the event’s focus on women’s wellbeing and regular physical activity to a conclusion.
Participants received health screening and prevention advice before taking part in a fitness session. The organisers used those activities to highlight the value of monitoring one’s health and maintaining an active lifestyle. The closing programme also featured a gala football match between women working for Korhogo’s town hall and the city’s female teachers.
The match provided a sporting meeting point for women from two professional groups and promoted solidarity and social ties beyond the competition itself. MAFEM-CI’s wider aim is to encourage prevention, wellbeing and continued participation in sport while creating opportunities for women to meet and share experiences.
The ceremony was attended by Fidèle Gboroton Sarassoro, president of the eighth edition, its patron Karitia Coulibaly-De Medeiros, director general of the National Vocational Training Agency, and Korhogo deputy mayor Lacina Ouattara. Medals and trophies were later presented to the leading teams and recognised participants for their performances and commitment.
