Mouhamadou Diagne wins fourth Rwanda title with APR BBC

APR BBC have retained the Rwanda Basketball League championship, with Senegalese center Mouhamadou Diagne and coach Matar Mbodji both involved in the title-winning campaign. The triumph extends the military-backed club’s reign to four consecutive league championships and confirms its continued dominance of Rwanda’s domestic basketball.

APR BBC sealed the 2026 playoffs by defeating the Patriots 4-0 in the final. They set the tone with a 117-91 victory in Game 1, before taking the second meeting 94-87. The champions then moved within one win of the title by beating the Patriots 101-92 in Game 3, and completed the sweep with a 114-76 result in the fourth game.

Diagne played a major role throughout the playoff run. The Senegalese pivot finished the postseason with 91 points, 89 rebounds, 20 blocks and nine assists. He also converted 61.2 percent of his attempts from the field, giving APR BBC a strong interior presence as they secured another national title.

The championship adds to Diagne’s growing profile in Senegalese basketball. He was recently called up to the Lions by national team coach Desagana Diop. Senegal was also represented on APR BBC’s staff by Mbodji, who works as the club’s Player Development Coach after coming through Seed Academy. Their contributions came as APR BBC completed a clean sweep of the final and preserved its place at the top of the Rwandan league.
