The EFC has now passed 850 members. It is regarded as the most powerful club organisation in European football, with influence extending beyond the continent. Al-Khelaïfi also serves as president of Paris Saint-Germain, adding one of Europe’s leading clubs to his profile as a football administrator.

The expansion comes amid tensions between UEFA and FIFA over the direction and control of football. The EFC gives clubs a central platform in those debates, particularly as European teams seek a stronger role in decisions affecting competitions and the wider game.
