Norway federation files two new complaints against Infantino

Norway’s federation has asked FIFA’s ethics and audit bodies to examine Infantino’s conduct and governance.

The Norwegian Football Federation has intensified its opposition to FIFA president Gianni Infantino by submitting fresh complaints over the organisation’s leadership. The move adds pressure to an already difficult governance debate as Infantino prepares a bid for another term next March.

The NFF filed two complaints on Tuesday. One asks FIFA’s Ethics Committee to assess the conduct of Infantino and other officials for possible breaches of the organisation’s ethical rules. The other calls on the Audit and Compliance Committee to examine FIFA’s governance procedures, financial and internal controls, and decision-making processes.

The federation’s concerns centre on three separate matters. They include FIFA’s decision last December to award its Peace Prize to Donald Trump, the removal of Folarin Balogun’s suspension during the World Cup, and the FIFA Forward Enterprise project, which was later dropped after substantial opposition. The NFF argues that the cases point to an improper use of FIFA’s authority and influence.

Norway, led by president Lise Klaveness, has been at the forefront of criticism of Infantino. The new complaints seek formal scrutiny of both individual conduct and the systems used to oversee FIFA’s decisions, financial safeguards and internal governance.
