Omonia Nicosia rejects two offers for Senou Coulibaly

Omonia Nicosia has turned down two bids for Senou Coulibaly and intends to keep the 31-year-old defender.

Omonia Nicosia has rejected two offers for Senou Coulibaly, making clear that the centre-back remains part of the club’s plans. The Cypriot side does not consider the 31-year-old defender available and is seeking to retain him for the season.

Coulibaly joined Omonia from Dijon in the 2023-24 campaign and is under contract until 2028. He holds Malian and French citizenship and has a listed market value of €700,000. His importance to the squad has increased after the departures of Ryan Mmaee and Willy Semedo, two key attacking players who left during the summer.

The defender was part of Omonia’s championship-winning team last season and was selected in the league’s best XI. He has already featured in four matches during this season’s Europa League and Conference League qualifying rounds. Those appearances underline his role for coach Henning Berg as Omonia prepares for the return leg against Saint-Trond on Thursday.

Coulibaly’s professional path took him from Cergy Pontoise to FC Mantois, then to Dijon before his move to Cyprus. Omonia’s refusal to accept either proposal preserves a central defensive option that the club regards as essential, despite the increased bids.
