Pierre Gasly loses Monaco podium in Hadjar dispute

Pierre Gasly has been stripped of his Monaco Grand Prix third place again, with Isack Hadjar retaining the position after the latest decision by the FIA International Court of Appeal. The ruling ends the effect of an earlier decision that had enabled Alpine to pursue a review of the penalties imposed on its driver.

Gasly initially finished third, but two five-second penalties linked to pit-lane infractions were reinstated, dropping him behind Hadjar. Alpine then appealed and briefly recovered the podium place for Gasly before he was deprived of it again. The dispute has therefore changed the final classification well after the race, rather than being settled when the drivers crossed the finish line.

At Monza, Gasly said the decision had left him bitter and indicated that the matter might not be over. He argued that information held by Alpine about his speed in the pit lane should have carried greater weight. In his view, the case now involves legal disagreements that extend beyond the sporting question. He also criticised the possibility of a result being altered weeks later through procedural decisions, insisting that Alpine had earned third place on the circuit.

Gasly said he had done everything possible during the race and would now leave any further steps to Alpine. The team will handle possible action while the French driver turns his attention to the remainder of the season. The latest ruling means Hadjar is the driver listed in third place from Monaco, while Gasly’s original podium remains at the centre of an unresolved dispute between the Frenchmen and their teams’ legal arguments.
