Real Madrid return to winning ways against Rayo Vallecano

Real Madrid beat Rayo Vallecano 4-1 as Pathé Ciss’s side stayed 13th with one point after two league matches.

Real Madrid have regained momentum by defeating Rayo Vallecano 4-1 in the Madrid derby. The victory strengthens their position near the top of LaLiga, while Rayo, with Pathé Ciss in their squad, remain in the lower reaches of the standings after two matches.

Kylian Mbappé put Madrid ahead from the penalty spot in the 14th minute after Álvaro Carreras was fouled. Carreras added the second three minutes later, finishing an attacking move involving Vinicius Junior and Mbappé. Jude Bellingham made it 3-0 in the 35th minute after another pass from Vinicius. Rayo reduced the deficit through Camello six minutes into the second half, but Mbappé restored Madrid’s three-goal advantage after Arda Güler supplied him.

Real Madrid are second with six points from two league games. Their recent results show a strong response after a loss to Barcelona: they had already beaten Leganés, Athletic Club, Sevilla and Oviedo before overcoming Rayo. The latest win gives them another positive result at the start of the campaign and keeps them among the leading sides.

Rayo Vallecano are 13th with one point from two matches. Their recent run before the derby had brought victories over Alavés and Villarreal, alongside defeats by Feyenoord, Heart of Midlothian and Crystal Palace. The 4-1 loss leaves them needing a response in their next league fixture to move away from the bottom half.
