Robinio Vaz targeted by racist abuse after Hull move
Hull City has condemned racist abuse aimed at new signing Robinio Vaz and is working to identify those responsible.
Hull City has condemned a wave of racist abuse aimed at Robinio Vaz after the club announced the 19-year-old forward’s arrival. The comments appeared beneath the initial announcement, which was later removed before the club published a replacement post.
The Premier League club said it had contacted the league, anti-discrimination organisation Kick It Out and the social media platforms involved. Hull is also working with Humberside Police and other relevant authorities to trace the accounts behind the messages. The club said it would support Vaz and urged supporters to report discriminatory content.
Vaz joined Hull on loan from AS Roma with an option to buy, six months after moving to the Italian club from Marseille. The France Under-20 international came through Marseille’s post-formation programme in 2024, made his senior debut shortly before turning 18 and recorded four goals in 19 appearances during the following season. He made 14 appearances for Roma and scored once before the move to England.
Hull are fifth in the 2026 Premier League after one match, with three points from a 2-0-0-goals record. Their recent run includes four wins and a draw, with the unbeaten sequence extending from victories over Rizespor, Konyaspor, Middlesbrough and Millwall to a goalless draw against Millwall. Aston Villa are next at the MKM Stadium on September 5.
