Spain stay top as England revive Nations League campaign

Spain remain at the summit of Nations League League A Group 3 after a convincing win over Croatia, while England have moved into second place by earning their first points of the campaign in Czechia. Croatia are now third after their defeat.

Lamine Yamal scored twice as Spain won 4-1 in Seville. He opened the scoring in the second minute, but Croatia levelled through a header from Beijo in the 28th. Marc Pubill restored Spain’s lead three minutes later, Yamal added his second after the interval, and Nico Williams completed the scoring. Luka Modric received a warm reception from the home crowd before entering late in the match.

England secured a 2-0 victory in Czechia after Pavel Šulc was sent off in the 26th minute for a high challenge on Anderson. Anthony Gordon headed the opening goal shortly after half-time from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s delivery, and Harry Kane later doubled the advantage with a low shot across goal. The result lifts Thomas Tuchel’s side above Croatia after England’s opening loss to Spain.

Elsewhere, Switzerland beat Scotland 3-0, Slovenia defeated North Macedonia 2-0, and Albania recorded a second win of the international break by overcoming San Marino 3-0. Iceland won 3-0 in Luxembourg, Slovakia beat Kazakhstan 2-1, while Bulgaria and Estonia drew 0-0.
