Senegal move Mozambique match to Maputo over venue clash

Senegal’s meeting with Mozambique will be played in Maputo instead of Diamniadio after the original venue became unavailable. The change alters the location of the fixture, but not its scheduled date or kick-off time. The National Stadium of Zimpeto will now host the match in the Mozambican capital.

The fixture had initially been assigned to the Stade Maître Abdoulaye Wade in Diamniadio. That stadium is unavailable because regional Olympic Games are due to take place there. As a result, the Senegalese Football Federation requested that the encounter be moved to Mozambique, where it can proceed at the planned time of 15:00.

Mozambique coach Chiquinho Condé agreed to the proposed relocation before the request was submitted to the Confederation of African Football. CAF then approved the venue change, confirming the switch from Senegal to Mozambique. The decision leaves Senegal without its initially designated home venue and gives Mozambique the hosting responsibility at Zimpeto, while the original date and 15:00 start remain unchanged. The move is therefore a logistical adjustment linked to the unavailability of Diamniadio, rather than a change to the fixture’s timetable.
