Abdoulaye Guèye presses for a Senegal call-up

The 21-year-old Senegalese forward scored three times in the Slovak Cup and is targeting national-team selection.

Abdoulaye Guèye has strengthened his claim for consideration by Senegal after a standout performance in the Slovak Cup. The 21-year-old forward, known as “Dembelé”, is now seeking a route into the Lions setup while keeping the country’s Under-23 team among his ambitions.

Guèye scored three goals before half-time for FC DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda in a 13-0 win over Saint-Petersbourg in the competition’s last-64 round on 19 August. The display took his total to five goals across all competitions at the start of the season, including two during the qualifying rounds of the Conference League.

The former Builders FC attacker has made his impact through his finishing as he adapts to his new level. His cup treble gives him a prominent moment to present as he pushes for wider recognition in Senegalese football.

Guèye has said he prepared specifically for a productive season, with the aim of scoring regularly and helping his club. He also views a place with Senegal’s U23s as a personal target and is ready to respond if selected. For now, his form in Slovakia has put his name into the conversation around the national teams.
