Achraf Hakimi has minor right thigh strain before Clasico

PSG say Achraf Hakimi has a minor right-thigh strain, leaving his place against Marseille uncertain next Sunday.

Paris Saint-Germain have not ruled Achraf Hakimi out of next Sunday's Ligue 1 meeting with Marseille after identifying his problem as a minor strain in his right thigh. The Morocco international will undergo treatment over the next two days, with a fresh medical assessment after that period set to determine whether he can return to training and competitive action.

Hakimi was forced off during the first half of Sunday's 1-0 win over Brest. The victory was PSG's first in the league this season and also brought its first clean sheet. PSG now hold a two-point advantage over Marseille, whose early campaign has been described as difficult. Marseille have also been unable to strengthen their squad with summer signings because of financial restrictions.

The injury update has implications beyond Sunday's French fixture. Hakimi's condition is relevant to Morocco's preparations for the upcoming camp before qualifiers against Gabon and Lesotho for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. National coach Mohamed Ouahbi is due to announce his squad at a Thursday news conference. Morocco will host Gabon before travelling to Bloemfontein to face Lesotho.
