Amine Gouiri wants to stay at Marseille despite market risk
Amine Gouiri wants to remain at Marseille, where his strong start and record have strengthened the case for keeping him.
Amine Gouiri wants to continue with Marseille, giving coach Bruno Genesio a shared interest in keeping the Algeria international at the club. Gouiri is settled at the Ligue 1 side, while Genesio is counting on the 26-year-old forward and does not want to lose him easily.
That preference may not settle the matter before the transfer window closes. Marseille’s financial difficulties could force the club to consider a major proposal, even though Gouiri is not seeking a move. An offer viewed as too valuable to reject could therefore change the plans of both the club’s leadership and its coach.
Gouiri made a strong start to the new Ligue 1 campaign. He began the opening round as a starter, scored twice and was named man of the match as Marseille defeated Strasbourg 4-0. The performance added weight to the argument for retaining him.
Since joining Marseille in January 2025, Gouiri has played 43 matches in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and providing eight assists. That output has reinforced Genesio’s desire to keep him, although the club’s financial position and the possibility of a substantial offer leave his future unresolved.
