Anthony Gordon wins Flick's backing at Barcelona

Anthony Gordon has received an early vote of confidence from Hansi Flick after Barcelona won away at Levante, with the coach highlighting the winger’s contribution beyond goals. The assessment gives the 25-year-old a strong starting point as he settles into a new attacking role at the Catalan club.

Flick sees Gordon as a player who helps Barcelona keep control and considers him important to the team. The England and Scotland national has yet to deliver as much as he wants in front of goal, but his manager is already satisfied with how he has fitted into the side. Gordon operates on the left wing and joined Barcelona from Newcastle in an €80 million move for the 2026-27 season.

The coach’s message to Karim Adeyemi was less complete. Flick believes the German can be an outstanding footballer when focused, and said his individual quality was visible in the goal against Levante. At the same time, he expects better output and greater consistency from the former Borussia Dortmund player.

The two summer arrivals therefore leave the match with different assessments. Gordon’s value is currently being measured through control and collective influence, while Adeyemi is being pushed to turn his ability into more regular results. Both remain important to Flick’s plans for Barcelona’s attack.
