Anthony Jelonch could return to Castres from Toulouse

Anthony Jelonch could leave Toulouse for a return to Castres next season, but the France international currently appears more inclined to continue in the Haute-Garonne. The move would take the 30-year-old back to the club where he won the French championship in 2018 before joining Toulouse in 2021.

Castres are considering a major effort to bring their former back-row forward home and have discussed a three-year contract with him. Jelonch’s current Toulouse deal runs until June 2027, meaning his future will also depend on whether the club offers him a new agreement. No decision has been made.

Since arriving in Toulouse, Jelonch has made 87 appearances and helped the club win the French title four times. He began his development at Auch before establishing himself at Castres, and his record includes three Six Nations victories with France. He also played at the 2023 World Cup after a period of uncertainty over his availability.

A return to Castres would reunite Jelonch with the club that launched his top-level career, while staying in Toulouse would preserve his place in a team where he has added four more French championships to his honours. The choice also comes as Toulouse prepares for the departures of Thomas Ramos to Racing 92 and François Cros to Lyon.
