Yan Diomandé: Mourinho demands sharper finishing

Yan Diomandé is making a growing impact at Real Madrid, but José Mourinho believes the Ivorian must improve before he can secure a lasting place in the team. The coach praised his recent influence while identifying his finishing and decision-making as the main areas still holding him back.

Real Madrid defeated Sevilla 4-1 in La Liga on Sunday, with Diomandé involved in two goals. He supplied the pass for Arda Güler to open the scoring before adding the final goal in the 82nd minute. After receiving the ball from Aurélien Tchouaméni, the former RB Leipzig player struck from the edge of the area.

The goal extended Diomandé’s run of decisive performances to three consecutive matches for the Spanish club. His versatility and ability to reach dangerous positions have made him an important attacking option, but Mourinho wants more precision when chances arrive.

The Portuguese coach considers Diomandé’s work in front of goal unfinished. He believes the winger needs greater composure in decisive moments and must choose better options for the final action. Mourinho’s assessment leaves the Ivorian with clear progress to make despite his strong contribution against Sevilla.
