Arthur Fils claims his biggest career payday in Cincinnati

Arthur Fils has collected the largest prize of his career after winning the Cincinnati Masters 1000, a breakthrough title that also moved him to 11th in the ATP rankings. The Frenchman reached his first final at that level and became only the fifth French champion in the category since its creation in 1990.

Fils defeated Frances Tiafoe in the final to secure $1.15 million, equivalent to €985,121. The men’s tournament offered total prize money of almost $10 million. The reward is his biggest single tournament payout, exceeding the $2.27 million he had already earned during the year in prize money.

The 21-year-old’s Cincinnati success adds a Masters 1000 crown to his previous titles in Lyon in 2023, followed by victories in Hamburg and Tokyo in 2024 and Barcelona in 2026. His final win over Tiafoe followed a contest in which Fils took the opening set, lost the second, then responded by winning the deciding set 6-0.

Fils now joins Guy Forget, Cédric Pioline, Sébastien Grosjean and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga as French winners of a Masters 1000 event. The US Open will offer a further financial incentive, with $5.5 million for the champion, $2.8 million for the runner-up and $1.45 million for each semi-finalist.
