Asane Sow scores as Basel draw with Kaly Sène’s Young Boys
Asane Sow scored his third league goal for Basel as Young Boys and FC Basel shared a 3-3 draw in Switzerland.
Asane Sow continued his strong start to the Swiss Super League by scoring for FC Basel against Young Boys, with fellow Senegalese attacker Kaly Sène appearing for the Bern side. Sow has now reached three league goals this season, while Sène is gradually earning more opportunities since joining Young Boys.
The fifth-round meeting on Saturday finished 3-3, leaving both teams with a point from a six-goal contest. Sow’s latest effort came after an influential performance in Basel’s third league match, when he scored twice and supplied an assist in a 4-2 victory over FC Thun. His contribution against Young Boys extends a productive opening phase of the campaign and confirms his importance in Basel’s attack.
Sène entered the match in the 79th minute and played the final stages. He did not add to the score, but his appearance reflects the increasing playing time he has received since arriving at Young Boys. The draw prevented either side from taking all three points in the fifth round, while Sow’s goal provided another positive marker in his development. The two Senegalese forwards therefore left the match with different individual outcomes: Sow added to his scoring record, and Sène continued to build his role through late involvement.
