Auxerre advance negotiations for Axel Tuanzebe

Auxerre are in advanced negotiations with Axel Tuanzebe as the club seeks to strengthen its position after a difficult start to the 2026 Ligue 1 season. The discussions have not yet produced a confirmed agreement, but they represent the latest development around the defender and the club.

Auxerre occupy 17th place after one league match. They have no points, with one defeat, two goals scored and five conceded. Their next opportunity to improve that record will come against Lyon on September 4, when Auxerre will play away from home in Ligue 1.

The club’s broader recent run includes more positive results than its league position indicates. Auxerre began the listed sequence with a 2-1 defeat by Orléans, then recorded four successive victories. They beat St Maur Lusitanos 5-2, Lille 2-0, Nice 2-1 and Angers 3-1. The wins include two against Ligue 1 opponents, Lille and Nice, but they have not yet translated into points in the new league campaign.

Tuanzebe’s negotiations therefore come at a point when Auxerre are trying to turn encouraging recent form into a stronger league position. The club’s immediate task remains the trip to Lyon, while the advanced talks continue without confirmation that the player has signed.
