Aziz Ndiaye threatens sanctions against Sa Thiès
Aziz Ndiaye says Sa Thiès will face severe sanctions after missing the Paris promotion for his fight with Siteu.
Sa Thiès is facing disciplinary measures from promoter Aziz Ndiaye after missing a promotional meeting in Paris for his scheduled bout with Siteu. Ndiaye said the wrestler would be punished severely, with no leniency, after failing to attend Sunday’s face-to-face event.
The meeting was intended to promote the contest, which is set for January 3 at the National Arena. Sa Thiès was in the French capital but did not take part. Siteu was also absent, though his non-attendance was attributed to administrative document problems. Ndiaye said Sa Thiès had offered no acceptable explanation for missing the event.
The promoter also pointed to the financial commitments already made to the younger brother of former arena king Balla Gaye 2. His team, he said, had honoured its contractual obligations and paid Sa Thiès an advance of 65 million CFA francs. Ndiaye’s anger is therefore focused not only on the missed promotional appearance but also on what he views as a failure to respect the terms surrounding the fight.
No specific sanction has been announced, but Ndiaye has made clear that Sa Thiès will be penalised over the Paris absence. The incident adds tension to the build-up to a major bout that is due to take place at Dakar’s National Arena.
