Blinky finishes runner-up at GeoGuessr worlds

France’s Blinky missed the chance to become the first two-time GeoGuessr world champion after finishing second in Berlin. The result gave Hungary’s Debre the title, while another French player, Kratsooo, completed the podium in third.

Blinky made a strong start in the final and moved 2-0 ahead, but Debre fought back to level the contest before winning the deciding round. The championships were held from September 2 to 6, with matches decided across three or five rounds and 20 location challenges used in each round.

The runner-up had previously won the 2024 edition and reached the final in 2023. This was his third final in four years, following a quarter-final exit at last year’s tournament. He reached the Berlin final after going unbeaten in the group stage, winning all five matches, then defeating Sweden’s Kapten 3-1, Denmark’s Clement 3-1 and American MK 3-0.

Kratsooo took a different route to the podium after qualifying fourth from his group with two wins and three defeats. He beat Strefan and Moo by 3-1 in the knockout rounds before losing 3-0 to Debre in the semi-final. He recovered in the third-place match, defeating MK 3-1.
