Bradley Barcola joins Liverpool in record Ligue 1 deal
Bradley Barcola leaves PSG for Liverpool in a €140 million package, the biggest sale in the Paris club’s history.
Bradley Barcola is leaving Paris Saint-Germain for Liverpool in a transfer that reshapes the record books for both clubs. The move ends his time in France and gives the 23-year-old France international a new challenge in the Premier League, after he became dissatisfied with his role in Paris.
The deal is worth €140 million in total, making Barcola the most expensive departure in PSG history and one of the defining sales in Ligue 1. Paris had no intention of keeping him after he declined to extend his contract, despite an agreement that ran until 2028. The club subsequently left him out of the team before completing the transfer.
Barcola joined PSG three years ago following his rapid emergence at formative club Lyon, where he produced several assists during a six-month breakthrough. He departs with two Champions League titles on his record and will now try to establish himself in England’s highly competitive top flight.
Liverpool had identified Barcola as its main target for the summer. His arrival comes as the club seeks a new attacking reference point after Mohamed Salah’s departure. Although Barcola operates on the opposite flank, his ability to threaten space behind defences was judged suited to the Premier League.
