Bruno Fernandes wins 2025-26 Premier League player award

Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League’s 2025-2026 Player of the Season after receiving the award from his fellow professionals. The honour strengthens the Manchester United captain’s standing as the team’s central figure and makes him the club’s first recipient of the players’ award since Nemanja Vidic in 2010-2011.

Fernandes produced nine goals and 21 assists in 35 league appearances. His assist total is a Premier League record for a single season, underlining his influence in the final third and providing the clearest statistical basis for the recognition. He succeeds Mohamed Salah as the award’s holder.

The Portugal international had already been recognised during the campaign by the Football Writers Association. His latest distinction came ahead of a field that included Arsenal trio David Raya, Declan Rice and Gabriel, with Arsenal finishing as champions. Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo represented Manchester City, while Brentford’s Igor Thiago and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White were also among the contenders.

At 31, Fernandes adds a major individual prize to his Manchester United record. The award also confirms his role as one of the most influential players in the league during the 2025-2026 season.
