Cameroon Lions settle in Abidjan ahead of Ivory Coast test
Cameroon have begun preparations in Cocody for Saturday’s meeting with Ivory Coast after a poor display against Congo.
Cameroon’s national team has settled in Cocody, Abidjan, where preparations have begun for Saturday’s important meeting with Ivory Coast. The arrival gives the Lions Indomptables a chance to reset after their disappointing performance against the Republic of Congo in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The squad received a warm welcome at Lycée moderne de Cocody on Thursday, with students showing particular interest in captain Bryan Mbeumo. The Manchester United right winger was also the main focus of attention when the team arrived in Abidjan. After the reception, the players moved on to their first training session in the city.
David Pagou’s staff worked with the squad for more than an hour, using the session to involve the entire group. Christian Kofane, who missed the match against Congo, trained with his teammates. His participation against Ivory Coast remains uncertain, with Pagou able to choose from a broad squad.
Several changes are expected for the match. Pagou has indicated that players who have not featured so far will receive playing time, pointing to possible adjustments in goal, defence, midfield and attack. The team’s programme on Friday includes the pre-match press conference and a recognition session at the Ebimpé stadium.
