Benoît Trémoulinas prepares for a Bordeaux playing return

Benoît Trémoulinas is preparing for a possible return to football with Bordeaux, opening a route back to the club where he established himself as a leading left-back. The former France international has indicated that he would consider playing for the Girondins in the regional divisions if the club called on him.

The 40-year-old has shared images on Instagram showing him training with a ball. His preparation suggests that the idea is being treated seriously, although no return to competitive football has been confirmed. Trémoulinas has continued his work step by step while trying to regain his playing sensations and fitness.

Trémoulinas ended his professional career in 2019 after persistent problems caused by a serious knee injury. He remains closely linked to Bordeaux, where he won the French championship in 2009, and has said he would be willing to play in Régional 1 or Régional 2, or even contribute to the club as a volunteer.

Since retiring, he has moved into media work. He has appeared as a pundit on L’Équipe 21 and works as a La Liga consultant for DAZN. A return would therefore mark a move back from broadcasting to the pitch for one of Bordeaux’s notable former players.
