Cheikh Lô Ndoye joins Ethiopian champions Sidama Bunna

Cheikh Lô Ndoye has joined Ethiopian champions Sidama Bunna on a one-season contract, giving the former Jaraaf goalkeeper a route back into African club football. The move follows a period away from regular competition and places the 34-year-old in a squad preparing for both domestic title duties and continental action.

Ndoye left Jaraaf after helping the Dakar club win the Senegalese championship. He then spent several months without playing competitively before joining AS Cambérène. His switch to Sidama Bunna now creates an opportunity to restart his career in Ethiopia, where the club will enter the next African Champions League campaign as the reigning national champion.

Sidama Bunna’s first continental assignment will come in the opening preliminary round against Chad’s Aiglons. Ndoye could therefore return to the African stage through a tie that begins the club’s bid to advance in the competition. The move also links his next chapter to a team carrying domestic success into the new campaign.

The goalkeeper’s recent standing in Senegalese football remains significant. He was selected as the country’s best local player in 2024 and was called into the national team by Aliou Cissé in October that year. After that recognition and his subsequent spell away from competitive action, the agreement with Sidama Bunna gives Ndoye a fresh platform and the prospect of restoring his place among Senegal’s leading domestic-based players.
