Deivid Washington joins Strasbourg in €16m move

The 21-year-old Brazilian leaves Chelsea for Strasbourg on a contract running through 2031.

Strasbourg have completed the signing of Brazilian forward Deivid Washington from Chelsea, adding a 21-year-old attacker to Hugo Oliveira’s squad on a long-term deal. The move comes as the club sits at the bottom of Ligue 1 after its opening match.

Strasbourg will pay €16 million for Washington, who has agreed to remain in Alsace until 2031. Chelsea retain a buy-back option and a share of any future sale, while the player now begins a new chapter with the other club operated by BlueCo.

The transfer arrives with Strasbourg 18th on zero points, having lost their only league match and conceded four goals without scoring. Their wider recent sequence includes defeats by Blackburn and Sporting CP, wins against Monaco and Stade Brestois 29, and a draw at Angers. Their next Ligue 1 fixture is away to Estac Troyes on September 6, 2026.

Washington started at Grêmio before joining Santos’ academy in 2016. He made his Santos first-team debut in April 2023, scoring twice in 16 appearances before moving to Chelsea. He played three senior matches for the London club, developed with its youth teams and later returned to Santos on loan in 2025. A Brazil Under-20 international, he scored three times as Brazil won the 2025 South American championship in the age group.
