Didier Deschamps sees Saudi Arabia emerge as next path

Didier Deschamps is expected to continue coaching after leaving France at the end of the 2026 World Cup, and a move to a Saudi Arabian club has emerged as the leading possibility for his next job. The former midfielder has already ruled out retirement, despite ending a 14-year spell with the national team.

Deschamps will be succeeded by Zinedine Zidane after the tournament. He previously said that France would be missed but that his coaching career was not over. His next destination remains undecided, with the Saudi option currently standing out among the possibilities being considered.

Paris Saint-Germain is another potential destination, although Luis Enrique is reportedly close to extending his contract with the European champions through 2030. A return to Olympique de Marseille, where Deschamps coached from 2009 to 2012, is also under consideration. Juventus and Monaco, two other former clubs, have been mentioned alongside Real Madrid, where his name was discussed before Jose Mourinho took charge.

International work is another possible route, with Brazil, Portugal and Argentina linked to the Frenchman. Deschamps has also said he wants to focus on himself and recover after France’s semi-final elimination at the World Cup, leaving the timing of his return unclear.
