DUC add Rassoul, Faye and Kassé for Ligue 2 push
DUC have added Khadim Rassoul, Pierre Faye and Diambel Kassé as they target promotion from Senegal’s Ligue 2.
Dakar Université Club are reshaping their squad with promotion as the clear objective for the coming Senegalese Ligue 2 season. The club wants to go beyond another near miss and secure a place in the top flight after strengthening its options in midfield and attack.
DUC finished fourth in the previous campaign, narrowly missing promotion to Ligue 1. That placing has set the direction for the new season, with the student club aiming to compete at the top of the division rather than remain outside the promotion places.
Defensive midfielder Khadim Rassoul Diop has joined from ASC Saloum, while striker Pierre Daniel Faye arrives from Africa Promo de Thiès. Faye has signed a two-year contract. DUC have also brought back forward Diambel Diaw Kassé following his spell with Oman’s Al Ittihad Sporting Club, adding a player with experience and attacking qualities.
The club will also begin the campaign with a new coach. Beau Baye Saliou Touré was appointed during the summer to replace Bouba Mané, who left after last season. The recruitment and coaching changes give DUC a revised setup for another attempt to reach Ligue 1.
