Elye Wahi welcomed by Nice supporters on his return

Elye Wahi has returned to Nice from Eintracht Frankfurt after fans gave the forward a raucous welcome at the airport.

Elye Wahi’s return to OGC Nice has immediately reconnected the forward with supporters who remember his first spell at the club. The 23-year-old was welcomed at Nice-Côte d’Azur airport by a large group of fans in red and black, giving his comeback a strong public start.

Nice and Eintracht Frankfurt have reached an agreement for Wahi to return. The operation, initially discussed as a loan without a purchase clause, is expected to include an option to buy estimated at €15 million. Frankfurt remains listed as Wahi’s current club, while the transfer history records his move from Frankfurt to Nice during the 2025-26 season.

Wahi had already made a clear impact during his previous six-month stay on the Côte d’Azur, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in 19 appearances. His record also includes moves from Marseille to Frankfurt for €26 million in 2024-25 and from Lens to Marseille for €27 million in the same season. His return comes after he chose Nice ahead of approaches from Lazio and Hull City.

At the airport, supporters lifted their phones, embraced the striker and sang his name. Wahi appeared surprised by the scale of the reception. The forward, who holds French and Ivorian nationality, is listed with a market value of €18 million at Nice.
