Etienne Eto’o joins Racing Ferrol on season-long loan
The 24-year-old Cameroon youth international leaves Rayo Vallecano for Ferrol to rebuild his momentum in Spain’s third tier.
Etienne Eto’o Pineda has joined Racing Club Ferrol on loan from Rayo Vallecano, giving the 24-year-old forward a fresh opportunity to establish himself in Spain. Ferrol, a Primera Federación side targeting a leading campaign, will use his physical presence to add strength to its attack. The move was confirmed on September 1, the final day of the transfer window, and he will work under coach Javi Vázquez through the end of the 2026-27 season.
The move follows a difficult period for Eto’o. He scored 15 times in 30 appearances for Unión Collado Villalba in 2023-24, which led to his move into the Rayo structure. He later scored on his Copa del Rey debut for Rayo’s first team and made his La Liga debut against Villarreal on February 22, 2025. His first loan, at second-tier CD Mirandés, produced only six appearances before ending in January 2026. At Villarreal B, he played 17 matches and scored twice.
Ferrol is therefore his third loan in just over a year, underlining the challenge of securing a settled role. The club offers him another chance to build match rhythm and confidence at a level where his aerial ability and direct style could have greater impact. Eto’o, born in Palma de Mallorca and the son of Cameroon great Samuel Eto’o, has represented Cameroon at under-20 and under-23 level. A senior debut remains ahead of him, with his club progress likely to shape that possibility.
