
FC Garagiste wins Yaya Coulibaly football tournament
FC Garagiste claimed the third Yaya Coulibaly Trophy in Grabo after beating the Veterans of Gbapet on penalties.
FC Garagiste are the champions of the third Yaya Coulibaly Trophy tournament in Grabo, securing the title after a final against the Veterans of Gbapet. The victory concluded a competition designed to give young people in the town organised football activities during the holidays and promote stronger community ties.
The final was decided at the municipal stadium on Saturday, September 5, with FC Garagiste winning the penalty shootout 5-4. The tournament began on August 9 and brought together 20 teams over several weeks. Its matches were played in a spirit of fraternity and fair play, providing football entertainment for the Grabo community.
Deputy mayor and parliamentarian Yaya Coulibaly chaired the final ceremony alongside local participants and residents. Each of the 20 teams received a set of jerseys, while the top three sides were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as financial prizes. Individual trophies also recognised the competition’s best player and goalkeeper, along with the most sporting team. The event ended with the presentation of the trophy to FC Garagiste and a fireworks display.
