Fondation Abdou-Diouf urges Senegal mobilisation for JOJ 2026
Moustapha Tall has called for broad public support as Senegal prepares to host the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
The Abdou-Diouf Sport and Virtue Foundation has called on Senegal’s population to support the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, placing public involvement at the centre of preparations for the event. Senegal will host the first edition of the Youth Olympic Games held in Africa.
Foundation president Moustapha Tall made the appeal in Dakar on Sunday during a walking event organised by the foundation, the Banque nationale pour le développement économique and the Dakar 2026 organising committee. He said the Games should involve the whole country rather than remain limited to sporting venues, and urged citizens to help ensure the event’s success.
Tall also asked Senegalese people to show discipline, hospitality and respect towards visiting delegations. The call was backed by BNDE director general Mamadou Faye, who also urged strong national participation around Dakar 2026.
The walk focused on civic responsibility and health. It brought together athletes, cultural figures, economic and political organisation leaders, and media representatives. Created in the 1980s, the Abdou-Diouf Sport and Virtue Foundation promotes fair play, solidarity, respect for others, the environment and oneself, sporting excellence, social development, effort, integrity, civic responsibility and merit. Those principles now form the foundation’s message as Senegal prepares for its landmark Olympic youth event.
