French tennis sends 17 into US Open qualifying

Seventeen French players will begin the US Open qualifying tournament with the main draw as their target. The group includes 11 men and six women, giving French tennis a broad presence in the opening round of the preliminary event.

Arthur Géa, the top-seeded Frenchman, faces India’s Sumit Nagal, while Clément Chidekh meets Argentina’s Federico Coria. Moïse Kouamé plays American Nishesh Basavareddy, seeded 32nd, and third seed Hugo Gaston takes on Argentina’s Guido Ivan Justo. Dan Added is drawn against Switzerland’s Jérôme Kym, with Luka Pavlovic facing Peru’s Juan Pablo Varillas.

Titouan Droguet, seeded fifth, starts against Spain’s Daniel Rincon. Clément Tabur plays American Braden Shick, Ugo Blanchet meets Finland’s ninth seed Otto Virtanen, and 10th seed Kyrian Jacquet faces Argentina’s Lautaro Midon. Alexandre Müller completes the men’s list against Serbia’s Laslo Djere and carries the 23rd seeding.

Among the women, Alice Tubello plays Australia’s Priscilla Hon. Kristina Mladenovic faces eighth seed Elvina Kalieva of the United States, while Harmony Tan meets American 17th seed Mary Stoiana. Clara Burel takes on China’s Ye-Xin Ma, Fiona Ferro faces Canada’s Rebecca Marino as the 30th seed, and Carole Monnet starts against Dutch player Anouk Koevermans. A victory in this round would move each French contender closer to the US Open main draw.
