Germany held by Netherlands as Haaland lifts Norway

Germany lost the chance to claim a full return from the Netherlands after surrendering an advantage in stoppage time. The draw also gave the Dutch a result against Jürgen Klopp’s side in a closely contested Nations League meeting. Portugal, meanwhile, began Jorge Jesus’s tenure with a win, while Norway secured a valuable victory over Denmark through Erling Haaland.

The Netherlands and Germany finished 1-1 at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Lukas Nmecha put the visitors ahead in the 32nd minute, but Cody Gakpo equalised in the second minute of added time after Ruben van Bommel’s delivery. Germany had earlier seen a Virgil van Dijk goal ruled out, while both Marc-André ter Stegen and Bart Verbruggen made important saves.

Portugal defeated Wales 1-0 in Jesus’s first match in charge. João Félix scored in the 22nd minute, and Cristiano Ronaldo later had a goal disallowed for offside after missing an earlier opportunity to extend the lead.

Norway overcame Denmark 3-2, with Haaland scoring twice. Oscar Bobb and Haaland gave Norway an early advantage, but Mikkel Damsgaard and Rasmus Højlund brought Denmark level before Haaland struck again from Martin Ødegaard’s service in the 74th minute.
