Enzo Le Fée keeps routine ahead of France list

Sunderland midfielder Enzo Le Fée will follow Friday’s France announcement after receiving his first pre-selection.

Enzo Le Fée will be among the French players waiting for Zinédine Zidane’s squad announcement on Friday after receiving his first pre-selection for Les Bleus. The Sunderland midfielder, 26, has welcomed the recognition but says it will not alter the routine that has guided his progress at club level.

Le Fée’s latest performance gave him a timely opportunity to strengthen his case. He scored Sunderland’s only goal in a 1-0 Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar, first earning the penalty and then converting it. The result added to his recent contributions for Régis Le Bris’s team and kept the central midfielder in the conversation before Zidane names his players.

The former Stade Rennais and Roma player remains focused on Sunderland rather than treating the national-team announcement as a personal objective. His view is that consistent work with his club will decide whether a senior France selection eventually follows. The initial pre-selection is therefore an important milestone, but it is not confirmation that he will be included in Friday’s final list.

Le Fée joined Sunderland from Roma in the 2025-26 season after returning to the English club from the Italian side during the previous campaign. For now, his attention remains on his performances in England while he waits to discover whether Zidane has included him in France’s next squad.
